Tales From the Caramel Food Group!

Stopped by Chick-Fil-A drive through on the way home from work Monday night. Ordered myself one of their Coffee Caramel milkshakes. (For those of you who haven't tried it - I strongly encourage it! They're Rocktastic!)

Still in scrubs, post 13-hr shift. Hair big, eyeshadow smudging. I looked pretty haggard.

Teenage kid working the drive-thru, couldn't be more than 17.
Looks at me, "Just getting out of work?"
(me: nodding, trying not to say "um,... yeah, DUH")
He smiles, hands me my shake & says, "A milkshake makes it all better, doesn't it?"
Totally tickled me!!

I'm all over da place!

Got the Mr. Chau's theme song in my head tonight. Too bad I can't find that commercial online anwhere - their jingle is classic!

Just looked out the window to my backyard, and saw an awesome sight - a huge owl perched atop the dead tree in the middle of my backyard. Tried to get a pic, but couldn't focus, so I moved into the laundry room - he saw me and flew away. Darn that bird & his super vision! Oh, well - it was a lovely, if fleeting, sight!

Work today. The knuckles in my toes & my lower back are hurting. I overextended myself this week - but I'll feel good when I see my paycheck, for sure! Today was 100% overtime. Thankfully, I'm off tomorow. I think I work mon/tue though. I really don't know. Mom thinks I'm either being subversive, or I'm a complete idiot, because I almost never know my schedule more than one (maybe two) days out. I assure you all, it's the latter. No secrets here... I really AM day-retarted. I keep a calendar on my desk with my work schedule & payday/ bills due written on it. Without it, I'm not sure I could function!

Fetal Demise

Took a 29-weeker down to the morgue today... baby stayed with the family 9 hours. Too long. Beautiful baby, past her expiration - should never try to keep around that long.

Mixed feelings. I want to be angry at the mother - it was her flagrant noncompliance that caused her baby to die. And yet my heart just aches for her. I'm sure she feels enough on her own conscience. Who am I to cast judgment?

I'm a bit numb - detached... mostly because things like this, in my line of work, hurt too much to care about.

Father's Day + Dad's Birthday today. It's worked out that way a few times before. I try to make it extra special. He's 67 years old today... LOVE that man! I had a custom cake made for him by one of my coworkers starting up a cake business.. It turned out SOOO cute! Custom for my geek-tastic padre: computer monitors. Check it out! :)

  - Mom: "Well, if you're 28, then yeah, about 3 have passed."
  - Me: "But I'm not 28"
  - Mom: "But if you're past 28, then it's 3."

Yummy Drink!

Super awesome. I'm calling it a martini, but I guess it's way more like a mixed drink: 1 oz ice cold vodka + 2 oz Pomegranite Acai (from Naked juice!) in a martini glass. Enjoy! It's wonderful, and packed with antioxidants!
ps. You can have a "virgin" one too: lots of Pomegranite Acai juice straight-up! *giggle* It's still super yummy with all the antioxidants! :)

Headache bad earlier. Well, I remembered my ultimate headache cure... and wouldn't you know.. it is still as awesome as ever!
