Today I am Thankful for:

It's been a long time since I've done my "thankful for" I really should get back to it!

1. Ashley's visit (& friendship!)
2. Porto's fruit tarts
3. Amazing L.A. weather

4. My pickup truck
5. Having friends all over the country
6. Inheriting dad's love of reading
7. Employment (wild as it may be.)
8. The crazy stories/ situations I've been in (& come out of safely.)
9. The fact that I can cook "a mean southern breakfast" (as Ashley put it!)
10. The fact that I still have things I want to do with my life (& I'm independent & spunky enough to do them!!)

warning- there's pee

I'm only somewhat dying now...But I'm sure I'll feel better soon.
(Remember Billy Crystal in The Princess Bride? I'm feeling "mostly dead")

Finally scraped myself off the couch and dragged myself into Urgent Care. The doc was super nice. (Thank goodness. I was afraid I'd have the same jerk that I first saw when I had the strep throat fiasco.) Doc: "Tell me what's wrong" Me: "Well, first off I'm a nurse, so you know I waited too long to come in." Ha. He laughed.. Offered to give me IV fluids, said I was on the border of "absolutely needing them, and could do well with them" but said if I didn't want them, it was ok. (I have crappy insurance, and all I could think was cha-ching so I declined.) He said at this point, as long as I can keep SOME fluids down, I'll be ok. (Thank God for yellow Gatorade! I swear by the stuff!!!)

Off until Wednesday. (Wanted to come back Tues, but I think he misunderstood me.) Whatever, I'm sure the extra day could do me some good, but my paychecks are gonna' SUCK. Pale, febrile & diaphoretic (with APAP + Motrin ATC), dehydrated to the point I've got NO VEINS left... I truly look like death. Still no idea the cause of the evil gastroenteritis, but it's lasted 4 solid days without slowing down- I've got an Rx for ABX, so hopefully, it'll kill whatever might be in there. (Surely it's not viral when lasting this strong for this long!?)

I think they were worried about a kidney/urinary infection when I said I had flank pain, too. Honestly, I think it hurts because it's concentrating the eff outta everything - I can't keep hardly ANYTHING down. (Only sips about an ounce or so at a time.) So they made me give urine - I didn't think I had any to give, but I was so proud of myself that I was able to conjure up a few drops. (And let me tell you, I didn't miss the cup; that was ALL I had!) Yeah, not kidding, really proud. Sick as a dog, and I'm taking pictures of my urine sample? I'm some kind of morbid, I know.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm 85% sure it's not a train... Now back to sleep.
