At Death...

The energy doesn't cease
at the moment the
electrical impulses do.

Something stays around,
if just for a minute or two.
Something hears
death's reaction.

Hearing is the last to go.
And so, I often talk
to the newly dead.
Assuage them.
Let their last inputs
be postive,
encouraging ones.

Who's to say there's
no understanding-
that electrical inputs
are no longer being
received by the brain?
